The NAMI Arizona Board of Directors invites you to attend and participate in our 2018 Annual Meeting scheduled for Saturday January 13th, 2018 at the Ability360 Conference Center 5025 E. Washington St. Phoenix, AZ 85034 from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM. This year’s event “Moving Beyond Stigma to Fully Integrate Healthcare and Communities across Arizona” recognizes that today’s economic and political reality provide another perfect opportunity to strengthen our intentional partnering.
Arizona continues to receive National Acclaim for our nonpartisan leadership in criminal justice and behavioral health innovation. We remain the first and only State to have every county signed on and committed to the National Stepping Up Initiative determined to keep those with mental illness in treatment vs. incarceration. All three branches of our State Government have shared their embrace of the Sequential Intercept Model as the preferred approach to the decriminalization of people with serious mental illness.
Thanks to our AHCCCS Building Connections Partnership Grant, NAMI Arizona has been able to closely partner with the Arizona Mental Health & Criminal Justice Coalition and the hundreds of law enforcement, fire, crisis, judicial, prosecutorial, defense, probation, government, provider, faith, individual, family, and community partners whose early collaboration blossomed into this powerful moment in time.
As advocates, we’ve accepted no more screaming, shouting, fussing, and fighting. We’re at the table and part of the solution. Yet we realize not everyone is involved and aware, and that stigma still prevents many individuals and families from effectively reaching out for help.
On January 13th, 2018, we plan to bring together as many of the mental health and criminal justice champions we can squeeze into the Ability360 Center to take a hard look at how stigma inhibits effective treatment/outreach at the most challenging times; and what we can do as a community to make it better.
We hope you can join us!
Thanks to your continued strong support of NAMI in Arizona we have strengthened our accomplishment at both State and Affiliate levels forging intentional, nonpartisan partnering with key leadership in federal, state, county, and municipal governments, veteran, police, fire, crisis, individual, family, and communities to educate and advocate for persons and families confronting mental illness. Through these efforts, we hope to eliminate gaps in care that contribute to the unfortunate and ever evolving cycle of mental illness, homelessness, incarceration, imprisonment, and unnecessary added expense.
We look forward to your participation at our 2018 Annual Meeting January 13th and to your continued partnering. Please consider one of the Sponsorship opportunities included.
Thank you for all you do for those we serve and for your continued strong support!
